About the course

This SHIVA arrangement brings Beethoven’s timeless Ode to Joy from Symphony No. 9, Op. 125 to two violins, giving you the opportunity to experience and enjoy one of classical music’s most beloved melodies together. Play it with your teacher, your student, or a friend. The two violin parts transform this famous theme into a musical conversation, allowing you to experience the harmony and character of the music while enjoying the feeling of playing together. Playing together also develops important musical skills such as listening, ensemble balance, articulation and phrasing. You learn to respond to another player, feel the harmony, breathe together and shape the music as a team — all important elements of chamber music. This arrangement is suitable for intermediate to advanced violinists and works well for lessons, duo practice, chamber music, recitals, concerts and special events.
