About the course

This SHIVA arrangement brings the grandeur, excitement and dramatic power of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” to two violins. With just two violin parts, you can explore the powerful character and energy of this orchestral masterpiece while experiencing the excitement of making music together. Play it with your teacher, your student, or a friend. The arrangement transforms the sound and spirit of the symphony into a musical dialogue between two violinists, encouraging you to listen, respond and shape the music together. Playing together also develops important musical skills such as listening, ensemble balance, rhythmic precision, articulation, phrasing and musical communication. You learn to stay connected through dramatic passages and create a sense of scale and intensity as a duo. This arrangement is designed for intermediate to advanced violinists and offers a rewarding way to experience the passion and dynamism of Dvořák’s music through ensemble playing. And this is only the beginning. As part of the SHIVA Sheet Music Academy, this course can continue to grow with additional music, practice ideas, technical tips, musical guidance, videos and other learning resources. Our goal is not simply to give you sheet music and leave you to practice alone. We want to explore the music together with you — helping you understand its character, practice with greater awareness, listen more deeply and enjoy bringing great orchestral music to life with two violins. Play together. Listen together. Learn together. Enjoy the music.
