Bach – Violin Concerto in A Minor, BWV 1041

About This Sheet Music

Bach’s Violin Concerto in A Minor, BWV 1041 is a wonderful work for developing technique, musical awareness and a deeper understanding of Baroque style. This SHIVA Performance Edition includes all three movements and shares the fingerings, bowings and musical markings that we use in our own approach to the concerto. For us, fingerings and bowings are much more than technical instructions. They influence phrasing, articulation, sound, musical direction and the natural flow of a passage. By sharing our choices, we want to give you a practical starting point for studying the concerto while encouraging you to listen, experiment and develop your own musical interpretation. Use our markings as guidance rather than strict rules. Try them with your own instrument and technique, listen to the musical result, and discover the choices that work best for you. Included in This Course - All three movements - SHIVA fingerings - SHIVA bowings - SHIVA musical markings - PDF sheet music The SHIVA Performance Edition is available immediately when you join SHIVA Membership, so you can begin studying and practising the concerto from the moment you become a member. As part of SHIVA Membership, this course will continue to grow with practice ideas, technical guidance, musical interpretation, videos and other learning resources to help you explore Bach’s concerto more deeply. We will continue adding resources based on the way we approach, practice and perform the music ourselves. Our goal is not simply to give you the notes, those can already be found elsewhere. We want to share the practical and musical decisions behind how we study and approach the piece as violinists, and continue building resources that help you understand, practice and enjoy the music in greater depth.
